AbCellera is breaking the barriers of conventional drug development to propel antibody-based medicines from target to clinic. We are a team of scientists, engineers, creatives, and business professionals who believe that advancing science enhances lives. We have developed technologies to unlock high-value drug targets, including antibody-drug conjugates and T-cell engagers for cancer, and complex transmembrane proteins for indications such as metabolic and endocrine conditions, pain, and autoimmunity.
We are looking for a motivated and talented individual currently pursuing an Engineering Physics, Software, or Mechatronics Engineering degree in a relevant field to join our High Throughput Robotics team as a co-op or intern for an 8 month term, starting in May 2025. Our team builds and maintains an array of custom cell screening instruments that are used to image antibody secreting cells as part of our discovery pipeline. You will analyze and improve our current microscope imaging system through a combination of computational imaging methods and optical path upgrades.
While in this on-site position, based in beautiful Vancouver, you will receive guidance and supervision from experienced team members within the High Throughput Robotics team. The internship is designed to offer exposure to real-world projects and the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of antibody-based medicines from target to clinic within Canada.
How you might spend your days
- Familiarizing yourself with the components in the current optical path and image corrections applied
- Generating a list of user requests after consultation with scientists
- Identifying hardware and computational methods to improve the quality of images
- Creating test plans in order to evaluate the different components and methods
- Leading the implementation of these methods in order to produce higher quality images so that scientists are able to make better decisions
We'd love to hear from you if
- You are enrolled in an Engineering program in a relevant field, such as Engineering Physics, Software, or Mechatronics degree
- You have a strong understanding of optics
- You are excited about image computational methods
- You are an outstanding communicator, team player, and relationship builder
- You have a passion for science, operational excellence, and innovation
- You are familiar with Python, LabVIEW, or C++
- You can work precisely and safely with power meters, cameras, high power light sources, and other optical equipment
- You understand the basics of fluorescent microscopy imaging
What we offer
