We are looking for a motivated and talented individual currently pursuing a BSc degree in the life sciences to join our Protein Science team as a co-op or intern for an 8 month term, starting in May 2025. You will play a key part in optimizing and executing high-throughput characterization assays, gaining valuable experience in a dynamic, collaborative research environment.
While in this on-site position, based in beautiful Vancouver, you will receive guidance and support from experienced team members within Protein Science. The internship is designed to offer exposure to real-world projects and the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of antibody-based medicines from target to clinic within Canada.
How you might spend your days
- Learning and conducting high throughput characterization of antibodies, bi- and multi-specifics using a variety of analytical and biophysical techniques
- Supporting the assessment of developability properties of hundreds of antibodies through characterization assays, such as non-specific binding ELISA, self-interaction assays, analytical size exclusion chromatography (aSEC), and hydrophobic interaction chromatography (aHIC)
- Collaborating with teammates to troubleshoot, analyze, interpret, and communicate data effectively
- Growing your technical expertise by gaining hands-on experience with advanced methodologies, and contributing to cutting-edge scientific research in a dynamic and collaborative environment
- Participating in team meetings to share updates and insights on ongoing experiments and projects
- Assisting in refining experimental protocols and performing data analysis using relevant software and tools
We'd love to hear from you if
- You are energized by the idea of working with teammates to develop innovative workflows that accelerate and enhance therapeutic antibody discovery and optimization
- You have previous hands-on wet lab experience, and a keen desire to learn new skills in an industry setting; previous co-op experience would be considered an asset
- You are currently enrolled in a BSc program in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Structural Biology, or a related life sciences field
- You have a passion for science, technology, and innovation, and are excited to apply these interests in a hands-on laboratory setting
- You have strong interpersonal skills and thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
- You are eager to learn and develop new technical skills while contributing to impactful scientific research
What we offer
AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $3,300 - $3,700 per month, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, we offer a number of ways to support AbCellerites in maximizing their work-life synergy. You will have a vacation allowance as well as additional days off as part of our company-wide office closures (a real value to all!), and sick leave time while on your internship.
