We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a relevant field to join our Laboratory Equipment team as a co-op or intern for an 8 month term, starting in May 2025. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong interest in laboratory equipment and its management and maintenance. This position will provide hands-on training in our CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) and exposure to the world class technology that drives AbCellera’s drug development engine. 

While in this on-site position, based in beautiful Vancouver, you will receive guidance and supervision from experienced team members within the Lab Equipment Team. The internship is designed to offer exposure to real-world projects and the opportunity to contribute to the goal of producing first-in-class and best-in-class antibody therapeutics for patients. 

How you might spend your days

  • Equipment maintenance and calibration
    • Assisting in the routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to quality standards by organizing and managing our vendors as they complete this work
    • Assisting senior team members to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly
  • CMMS administration
    • Maintaining accurate records of laboratory equipment
    • Participating in CMMS audits and assisting in completion of asset record data
    • Playing a key role in AbCellera’s next phase implementation of calibration and planned maintenance functionality in our CMMS
  • Lab safety and compliance
    • Adhering to and promoting laboratory safety protocols
    • Assisting in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Collaboration
    • Working closely with the Laboratory Equipment team to support new projects in our various laboratories 
    • Collaborating with researchers and scientists to understand and respond to specific equipment needs

We'd love to hear from you if

  • You are enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma program in a relevant field, such as Biotechnology or Engineering
  • You have a strong interest in laboratory technology and equipment, and how they are utilized in the biotech or pharmaceutical industries 
  • You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You are able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • You have excellent communication skills and the ability to present technical information clearly

What we offer

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $3,300 - $3,700 per month, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, we offer a number of ways to support AbCellerites in maximizing their work-life synergy. You will have a vacation allowance as well as additional days off as part of our company-wide office closures (a real value to all!), and sick leave time while on your internship.
