Each of us cares about someone who will need medicines. That’s why our vision is to repeatedly beat the odds to deliver breakthrough medicines to patients that need them. We pursue truth and scientific rigour and have the courage to work at the edge of the unknown.
We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Research Scientist to join our Protein Engineering team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Your goal will be to execute and optimize the use of mammalian library-based approaches for antibody and antigen engineering. If you have extensive experience in mammalian cell biology, genetic engineering, cell culture systems, and the screening/analysis of genetic libraries, we’d love to hear from you. Your role offers the exciting opportunity to join and grow with a team that believes in collaboration, innovation, and mutual support.
How you might spend your days:
- Collaborating with your cross-functional teammates to develop and implement mammalian library screening approaches to engineer antibodies and protein antigens for therapeutic development purposes
- Contributing hands-on to multiple aspects of screening, including library design and delivery, assay development and implementation, data analysis, and interpretation
- Organizing, supporting, and collaborating with other team members to meet project deliverables and timelines
- Preparing materials to inform teammates and communicate strategies, key findings, and implications
We’d love to hear from you if:
- You thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and enjoy coordinating with your team to juggle multiple competing priorities
- You are self-motivated and work independently to identify project needs and follow that up with building and implementing solutions
- You have an MSc in a relevant field, or a BSc with 2+ years of relevant work experience in an academic or industry setting
- You have experience with mammalian cell line engineering and cell-based assay development, as well as in-depth knowledge of flow cytometry applications and single cell technologies; knowledge of library-based methods for antibody and protein engineering would be an asset
- You are familiar with next-gen sequencing and analysis of library screening approaches
- You have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of cross-functional team and enjoy mentoring and bringing out the best in your teammates
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public presentation of complex data
- You have excellent documentation and organizational skills

About AbCellera
Creating medicines is the most important work we can do.
We are a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on discovering and developing antibody-based medicines in the areas of endocrinology, women’s health, immunology, and oncology. We have built a platform for advancing antibody drug programs from target to clinic, and we are using it to build our internal pipeline.
Today, our pipeline includes two drug candidates in clinical development, two preclinical development candidates (DCs) in Investigational New Drug (IND)-enabling activities, and more than 20 active discovery programs across multiple modalities and indications.
We believe that when tenacious people share a vision and work together, they can truly have a positive impact. That’s why we hire for character and intelligence, not just for CVs or experience.
We look for people with drive and energy. People we trust. People who need to know their days are being well spent. That their work really matters. In the end, our success will be measured by the impact of our medicines.
